What a friend we have in Jesus

There is an old hymn that was written in 1855 called “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” that still resonates in my heart today. When I think of a true friend, I think of Jesus. Just as the words say, you can take everything to Him in prayer. When your heart is burdened, He will give you peace, comfort, and encouragement. He is a faithful friend, who will love you unconditionally. He is your refuge and your shield of protection.
May the words to this song meet you at your point of need today.
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
O What peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer!
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful, who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness – take it to the Lord in prayer!
Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge - take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou will find a solace there.

Scripture to Remember: “…I have loved you with an everlasting love….” Jeremiah 31:3
Question to Consider: Is Jesus your best friend?
Prayer: Lord, I have been hurt and wounded by friends in the past. I need a friend who is an example and role model for a Godly friendship. Let a new friendship begin with me, Lord. Help me to do unto others, as you would do unto me. Amen
Thought for the Day: I will begin to read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the New Testament to learn more about my friend, Jesus.
